Enablers of procedures

VEWA

Equans wants to increase and ensure the safety culture within the EES department. Therefore, we were asked by Ecopulz to write a VEWA policy plan to provide more structure and uniform practices. This plan should improve the safety and well-being of employees within EES, support environmentally friendly practices and comply with applicable standards and regulations.

The Challenge

In developing a VEWA policy plan, Laurens and Niels faced a complex and dynamic environment. As a result, they wanted to ensure that the policy not only complied with regulations, but was actually effective and relevant to the EES organization and its employees.

The Solution

To address these challenges, Niels and Laurens engaged in discussions with both management, operations staff and the safety expert within Equans Energy Solutions. From there, the goal and scope were determined. It was determined which activities and processes within the EES department would be covered by implementing VEWA and which would not. This allowed them to identify potential hazards and risks and prioritize how to address them.

In addition, current functions and roles within the EES department are aligned with the designation policy. This allows the policy to be effectively implemented and adhered to.

Niels and Laurens have also developed a comprehensive communication program to ensure that employees are aware of the policies and procedures. All relevant procedures, instructions and standard forms were also developed to document the policy.
