Drafting Heat Transition Vision

A sustainable, green environment and a clean future. That is the wish of the municipality of Gilze and Rijen. A municipality that has over 26 thousand inhabitants. In doing so, they focus on four Global Goals: Energy, Circular Economy, Climate & Biodiversity and Partnership. Their approach is small-scale, tailor-made and close-by, where they are committed to step-by-step consciously setting off together.

The Challenge

To set the right course towards a sustainable, green environment, it was necessary to draw up an energy transition plan and a Transition Vision Heat (TVW). This had to be written in cooperation with the municipality of Gilze and Rijen, province of North Brabant (workshop de Gruyter), Enexis, Smits source of Energy, Innoforte and eesHolland.

The Solution

Ramon's main goal was to get the parties together, create structure and reach agreements. In doing so, it was important to always keep the common goal in mind: creating a joint plan for a cleaner future.

The plan provided insight into housing improvement opportunities with matching infrastructure (E and W). Based on the two reports, a roadmap can be drawn up with a focus on Social Impact. So far, the plan has not been included in the RES, but a heat company has been established and the first connections have been realized.

Ramon:

"Clear frameworks and mission statement made it possible to arrive at an executable transition vision in a relatively short time with teammates with different backgrounds and interests."
